Jupiter
is the largest of all of the planets in
orbit around the Sun and in astrology symbolizes
the extended influence of the power of the
Sun. Jupiter is also the human link with
the astral world of the gods and the instrument
for understanding this greater realm. In
polytheistic religions (worshipping or a
belief in more than one god) it is more
often than not the sun god, the heavenly
god and /or the thunder god that is leader
of the gods. Jupiter was the supreme god
of the Romans.
Traditionally Jupiter is a planet of good
fortune. In the horoscope Jupiter tells
of a person's higher mental development.
It can be said that although Mercury enhances
the spreading of ideas that Jupiter is essentially
the precipitator and where ideas arise.
Jupiter is also associated with higher learning
and long journeys, a reason being that in
times gone by long journeys were necessary
for the purpose of study.
Jupiter's position in the horoscope determines
success on the earthly plane and material
wealth especially in combination with the
Moon, Venus or Saturn. If Jupiter is in
a poor alignment this can indicate that
a person will be wasteful in their character.
